Every summer, the automotive world descends on the Goodwood Estate in West Sussex for one of the most anticipated events on the motoring calendar. Goodwood Festival of Speed combines historic racing machinery, world-first debuts, concept cars and some of the world's fastest road cars into four unforgettable days of action.

What Is the Goodwood Festival of Speed?

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is widely regarded as one of the world's greatest automotive events. Held annually in the grounds of Goodwood House in West Sussex, it brings together historic racing cars, Formula 1 machinery, production performance cars, motorcycles, hypercars and concept vehicles for four days of live demonstrations and manufacturer showcases.

Unlike a traditional motor show, Goodwood is built around movement. Manufacturers don't simply unveil new models on static displays, they drive them. Throughout the festival, everything from Le Mans-winning prototypes to the latest electric performance cars tackles the famous 1.16-mile Goodwood Hillclimb, allowing visitors to experience the sights, sounds and performance of the world's most exciting machines.

That combination of heritage, innovation and accessibility has helped Goodwood become one of the automotive industry's most important launch events.

1.  Gordon Murray Automotive: Engineering at Its Finest

No manufacturer left a bigger impression on us than Gordon Murray Automotive.

Rather than focusing on a single headline model, GMA brought together the S1 LM, the first customer T.50s Niki Lauda, the T.33 Spider prototype and the GTR XP prototype, showcasing the breadth of one of Britain's most exciting performance car manufacturers. Together they demonstrated Gordon Murray's philosophy of lightweight engineering, naturally aspirated performance and uncompromising driver engagement, with bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres helping deliver the precision and feedback that define the driving experience.

Throughout the weekend, the V12-powered cars tackled the famous Goodwood Hillclimb, producing one of the defining soundtracks of the festival. Seeing almost the entire current GMA family together in one place was a genuine highlight and a reminder that lightweight engineering still has a place in an increasingly electrified world.

2. Alpine A110: Looking to the Future

Few cars generated as much discussion as Alpine's next-generation A110.

Goodwood offered enthusiasts their first public look at the development mule previewing Alpine's future electric sports car. While the production version is still some way off, the car demonstrated Alpine's determination to preserve the lightweight, agile character that has made the A110 one of the most respected sports cars of the last decade.

DriverReviews also secured an exclusive interview with Alpine CEO Philippe Krief, where Gordon Shedden asked the questions enthusiasts really wanted answered about the future of the A110 and how Alpine plans to maintain its driver-focused DNA.

3. Hennessey Venom F5-M: Goodwood's Loudest Arrival

Few cars attracted a crowd quite like the Hennessey Venom F5-M.

Powered by a 6.6-litre twin-turbocharged Fury V8 producing 1,817hp and paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, the F5-M combines astonishing performance with an old-school driving experience rarely seen in modern hypercars. Putting that power to the ground are Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, developed to provide the grip and precision needed for one of the world's most powerful manual production cars.

We also spoke exclusively with Nathan Malinick, Design Director at Hennessey, who explained the thinking behind one of the world's most extreme performance cars and what makes the manual F5-M so special. Whether sitting in the paddock or launching up the hill, the Venom F5-M delivered some of the biggest moments of Goodwood 2026.

4. McMurtry Spéirling PURE: Returning to the Scene of the Record

Few modern cars have a closer connection with Goodwood than the McMurtry Spéirling.

Following its famous record-breaking hill climb run, the production-ready PURE returned to Goodwood to demonstrate how the revolutionary fan-assisted hypercar has evolved for customers. Its ability to generate enormous downforce from virtually any speed continues to challenge conventional performance car engineering. The car showcased at Goodwood was fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres, while customers can also specify Michelin LMP2 slicks for maximum circuit performance.

5. Renault 5 Turbo 3E: An Icon Reimagined

Few cars attracted as much attention throughout the weekend as the Renault 5 Turbo 3E.

Inspired by one of rallying's most legendary hot hatches, the Turbo 3E takes the unmistakable silhouette of the original Renault 5 Turbo and completely reimagines it for the electric era. Massive wheel arches, rear-wheel drive and bold styling made it one of the busiest displays throughout the festival. Sitting beneath those arches are Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, chosen to help deliver the grip needed for the car's 540hp, rear-wheel-drive performance.

Goodwood has always celebrated both the past and the future of motoring, and few cars embodied that philosophy better than the Renault 5 Turbo 3E.

6. Praga Bohema: The Festival's Hidden Gem

Before arriving at Goodwood, many visitors had never heard of Praga. By the end of the weekend, many were asking where they could learn more.

The lightweight Czech hypercar impressed with its advanced aerodynamics, compact dimensions and race-inspired engineering. DriverReviews experienced the Bohema from the passenger seat with development driver Ben Collins before sitting down with Collins and Chief Engineer Jan Martinek to discuss how the car was developed. One of the themes that emerged was the importance of the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres, which play a key role in helping the Bohema deliver its remarkable levels of grip and precision. 7. Toyota GR GT: Gazoo Racing's New Halo Car

Toyota arrived at Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026 with one of the most exciting performance line-ups of the weekend, and the new GR GT was undoubtedly the star of the show.

Developed alongside Toyota's GT3 racing programme, the GR GT previews the next generation of Gazoo Racing road cars and signals Toyota's continued commitment to building exciting driver's cars. Sitting alongside the GR GT3 race car and the dramatic Lexus LFA Concept, it demonstrated that Toyota's performance ambitions extend far beyond hot hatchbacks and sports coupés.

What stood out most was how confidently Toyota showcased the car in motion. Goodwood has become the place where manufacturers prove their latest creations in front of enthusiasts rather than simply displaying them under bright lights, and the GR GT looked every bit the flagship Toyota has promised. If the production version delivers on what we've seen at Goodwood, it could become one of the defining Japanese performance cars of the decade.

8. BMW M Concept Neue Klasse: A Glimpse of BMW M's Future

BMW used Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026 to celebrate both its heritage and its future.

While the M3 celebrates four decades as one of the world's most influential performance cars, the BMW M Concept Neue Klasse offered enthusiasts their clearest look yet at what comes next. Making its UK debut at Goodwood, the concept previews the styling, technology and philosophy expected to underpin BMW's next generation of high-performance electric M models.

Although it remained on static display, it became one of the busiest attractions on the BMW stand throughout the weekend. Visitors spent as much time discussing its bold styling and dramatic proportions as they did photographing it, highlighting just how significant BMW's next chapter will be. For enthusiasts, this was the beginning of a new era for BMW M.

9. BMW i3: BMW's Next Generation Arrives

The all-new BMW i3 quietly became one of the most talked-about electric cars at Goodwood.

Unlike many concept vehicles, the i3 gave enthusiasts an opportunity to see BMW's next-generation electric saloon in a real-world environment rather than in carefully controlled launch photography. Seeing the car moving around the festival provided a much better sense of its proportions, stance and presence than any press image could offer.

Our own footage of the i3 quickly became one of DriverReviews' strongest-performing videos from Goodwood, reflecting just how much curiosity surrounds BMW's Neue Klasse platform and what it means for the future of the brand. It may not have generated the same theatre as some of the hypercars, but in terms of importance for the wider automotive industry, the i3 was one of the most significant cars at the festival.

10. Audi RS5: Audi Sport Enters a New Era

The latest Audi RS5 marked a significant milestone for Audi Sport.

Making its Goodwood appearance shortly after its reveal, the new RS5 introduces plug-in hybrid technology to Audi's iconic RS line while continuing to deliver the blend of performance and everyday usability that has made the badge so successful.

Rather than chasing outright drama, the RS5 demonstrated a more mature approach to performance. Its understated styling, wider stance and electrified powertrain reflect the direction Audi Sport is taking as the industry evolves, while still promising the pace and capability expected from an RS model. Among a festival filled with limited-production hypercars and dramatic concept cars, the RS5 stood out because it represents a car enthusiasts will actually be able to own and use every day.

Honourable Mentions

Not every standout attraction at Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026 fitted into our Top 10, but several displays and special moments deserve recognition.

Singer's Central Feature: The spectacular Singer Central Feature dominated the Festival of Speed throughout the weekend. Celebrating Singer's meticulous reimagining of the Porsche 911, the sculpture quickly became one of the most photographed landmarks at Goodwood and perfectly captured the craftsmanship, engineering and attention to detail that define the Californian company.

Audi Nuvolari: Audi used Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026 to showcase the Audi Nuvolari, its new high-performance flagship. Seeing the near-production prototype tackle the famous hill climb gave enthusiasts an early look at Audi's next generation of performance cars and one of the manufacturer's most significant launches of the weekend.

Lightning McQueen: Goodwood isn't just for lifelong enthusiasts. Disney and Pixar's Lightning McQueen proved to be one of the biggest crowd favourites of the festival, attracting families and younger visitors throughout the weekend and reminding everyone that a passion for cars often starts at a young age.

Porsche x Toy Story: Porsche's Toy Story-themed display was one of the most unexpected attractions at the festival. Blending automotive culture with one of Pixar's best-loved films, it became a popular photo opportunity and showed that Goodwood is as much about celebrating car culture as it is about outright performance.

Five Moments We'll Remember from Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026

Cars are only part of what makes Goodwood Festival of Speed so special. Looking back on four unforgettable days in West Sussex, these are the moments that stayed with the DriverReviews team long after the event came to a close.

1. Riding the Goodwood Hillclimb with Ben Collins

Watching the Praga Bohema tackle the famous hill climb was impressive enough. Experiencing it from the passenger seat with development driver Ben Collins, the former Stig from Top Gear, was something else entirely.

From the moment the car launched away from the start line, it was clear just how much confidence its lightweight construction, aerodynamics and Michelin tyres give the driver. It was one of the most memorable automotive experiences we've ever had.

2. Hearing Gordon Murray's V12 Cars Echo Across the Estate

Some moments at Goodwood are remembered visually. Others are remembered by sound.

Watching Gordon Murray Automotive's collection of naturally aspirated V12 cars tackle the hill climb was a reminder that lightweight engineering and high-revving engines still have an important place in the performance car world. As the cars disappeared into the trees, the sound lingered long afterwards, one of the defining soundtracks of Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026.

3. Watching the Hennessey Venom F5-M Fire into Life

Crowds gathered around the Hennessey paddock long before the Venom F5-M moved.

Every engine start attracted spectators, cameras and smartphones, with its 1,817hp twin-turbocharged V8 announcing itself across the paddock before heading towards the hill climb. In an event filled with extraordinary machinery, it still managed to stop people in their tracks.

4. Seeing the Future of Performance Cars Together

Goodwood has always celebrated the past and the future in equal measure.

Seeing Alpine's next-generation A110, Toyota's GR GT, BMW's Neue Klasse concepts and the McMurtry Spéirling PURE within a few minutes of each other perfectly demonstrated how rapidly performance cars are evolving. Whether powered by electricity, hybrid technology or naturally aspirated V12s, the future of enthusiast cars has never looked more diverse.

5. Four Days Among Automotive Enthusiasts

The cars may bring people to Goodwood, but it's the atmosphere that keeps them coming back.

For four days, the estate was filled with manufacturers, engineers, racing drivers, journalists and enthusiasts, all sharing the same passion for cars. Whether exploring the paddock, watching the hill climb or chatting with fellow visitors, there was a genuine sense that everyone was there to celebrate automotive engineering at its very best. That's what makes Goodwood Festival of Speed unlike any other event in the world.
