2025 Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo Review: More Range, More Power – But Is It Still The Best?

Watch DriverReviews ambassador Vicki Butler-Henderson give her verdict on the new Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo.

Join Vicki Butler-Henderson as she gets behind the wheel of the updated 2025 Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo – a striking electric sports estate with more range, more power, and faster charging than ever before. With up to 360 miles of range, 18-minute rapid charging, and nearly 600hp on tap with the Sport Chrono Package, the Taycan 4S blends everyday usability with electrifying performance. Active Ride suspension, optional rear-wheel steering, and a refined interior packed with clever tech help sharpen its appeal even further. But has Porsche done enough to keep the Taycan feeling fresh and focused?

Specifications

• Battery Range: 360 Miles
• Weight: 2,245kg
• Boot Space: 446 litres
• Power: 517hp

Exterior

Straight off the bat, we need to address the fact that the model in the video has approximately £30,000 worth of optional extras. Vicki takes us through what these are and what they cost. Starting with the green metallic paint, which is yours for £3,000, then there’s the LED lights with 32,000 pixels yours for nearly £2,000 and the panoramic roof will set you back £1,000. In true Porsche engineering fashion, they have thought about how to bring the weight of the car down and have done so using aluminium across the body panels. Despite this, the Taycan 4S Cross Turismo still tips the scales at 2,245kg which as Vicki points out is about average for the type of car in this market space.

As this is a facelift version, there are new things to talk about which include the fact that it sits 2cm higher than the Taycan saloon which might be useful to know if you need that extra ground clearance. There are also 39 litres more boot space here than the saloon which means that the Cross Turismo has 446 litres in total and a slightly higher roofline to help pack away taller objects. There are also 84 litres of space in the front where we are accustomed to seeing the engine which might be handy for shopping bags or to store the charging cables perhaps.

Wheels & Tyre Talk

The Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo sit on wheels that are more aerodynamic than the previous version. In the video review you will see the optional 20” version which cost just under £1,700.

These are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres which feature Porsche’s NFO marking on the sidewall that denotes they have been specifically engineered for Porsche electric vehicles. On DriverReviews, over 11,000 drivers have rated this tyre with an impressive average of 4.7 out of 5.0.

Interior

Firstly, the lack of dials disappoints Vicki as she mentions that she would like to be able to control the climate via dials and goes as far to say that it is wasted space. To control the climate, there is a screen which has haptic controls so you do feel that the car has registered what you want it to – some will like this and some won’t – and perhaps this is the way that all car manufacturers are going so we might need to get used to it. The next design flaw that Vicki points out is the positioning of the gear stick which is comically hidden behind the steering wheel so you will need to shift your head and body around the steering wheel to see what you are doing with it. There is a digital read out of which gear you are in on the screen ahead of the driver, but it might take time to train the brain to manoeuvre the gear stick while looking at the screen to see which gear you have selected. Finally on Vicki’s list of ‘don’t likes’ is the fact that when you enter the car, it is automatically on and if you are not used to this, you might end up searching for another button to turn the car on.

Remember towards the start of the article it mentions there are £30,000 worth of optional extras? You might be thinking where is the additional £24,000 coming from that hasn’t been taken up by paint, headlights, and the roof. Well, the leather on the dash in the model we have in our review video will set you back £3,000. Then, there’s the optional £1,000 passenger screen which is essential to keep your passenger entertained on those longer journeys. Porsche have been clever here and applied a specific film to the screen so that the driver cannot see what the passenger is doing on the screen and therefore is prevented from getting distracted.

The digital instrument cluster has been updated to give you more feedback such as how the battery is performing, and it can even give you predictive charging speeds. Speaking of all things digital, there’s even a Porsche app you can download to pre-plot your daily commute or on the other end of the scale a large European trip to send to your Taycan. It will show you where to find Porsche centres along your route so that you can make use of their heavily reduced charging price.

Looking towards the rear of the car, the roofline does give a good amount of headroom. Of course, we needed to test this so called upon the help of the camera crew who all say that they had plenty of room back there even with three of them across the rear bench. It’s worth mentioning here that the third seat is an optional extra at £371.

Driving, power & battery

Even though it is electric, it is thirsty and if you do find yourself having zapped the battery then fear not because a ten-minute charge (on a fast charger) could see an additional 186 miles added to the range. For this generation of the Taycan, power has had an increase as well as range - 517bhp to be exact – and if you go for the sport chrono package (a £2,000 additional option) then you get a few tricks to deploy. Firstly, you get access to an extra 81bhp, and something called push to pass. The push to pass button is located on the steering wheel, and when you press it, that additional 81bhp is used for 10 seconds and you get a countdown of that on the driver’s screen. Continuing chat about power, the Taycan 4S Cross Turismo will take you from 0-62mph in just 3.6 seconds and if that isn’t enough, then there is a more powerful variant of the Taycan which has 1,000bhp and will go from 0-62mph in under 3 seconds.

In the video, Vicki points out that you hear the sound of a gear change being pumped into the cabin and this is because there is a 2-speed transmission on the rear axle. The first gear helps acceleration, and the second gear does the rest. The energy recovery system has had an upgrade too by 30% so every time you press the left pedal; more energy goes back into the system ready for you to use later. You can set it so that the car will scan the road ahead of you to determine the best rate of energy recovery, or, if you really don’t like it, you can turn it off completely. Energy recovery isn’t the only system that you have control over, you can also take control of the braking system sensitivity, setting it to either high, regular or low.

The adaptive air suspension further eats away at the £30,000 list of options taking up a £6,000 chunk of it. Vicki can’t help but sing its praises describing is as a “marvel”. It will take the roughest roads and give you a very smooth ride and it does this through its hydraulic pumping unit at each damper. There’s also a smart lift function that can be programmed so that the car recognises frequent journeys (such as your commute) and if there are speed bumps along that commute, it will raise the car slightly to deal with them in the most efficient way.

Vicki’s Verdict

“It seems incredible that you can hustle this car like almost a hot hatch around the bends”.

The mid-life facelift has kept the Taycan at the top of its game and Vicki says that the Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo is more involving to drive than it’s stable mate, the Audi e-tron GT and rival Tesla Model S.
